Information
Generic Name: E: SUCRALFATE (soo-KRAL-fate)
Common Uses: This medicine is a gastric protective used to treat and
prevent ulcers. It may also be used to treat other conditions as
determined by your doctor.
How to use this Medicine: Follow the directions for using this medicine
provided by your doctor. TAKE THIS MEDICINE on an empty stomach at least 1
hour before or 2 hours after eating. DO NOT TAKE ANTACIDS for at least 30
minutes before or after taking this medicine. STORE THIS MEDICINE at room
temperature, away from heat and light. IF YOU MISS A DOSE OF THIS
MEDICINE, take it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next
dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do
not take 2 doses at once.
Cautions: IT MAY TAKE 4 TO 8 WEEKS for complete healing of your ulcer.
Continue taking this medicine for the full course of treatment even if you
feel better. IF YOUR SYMPTOMS DO NOT IMPROVE or if they become worse,
check with your doctor. BEFORE YOU BEGIN TAKING ANY NEW MEDICINE, either
prescription or over-the-counter, check with your doctor or pharmacist.
Possible Side Effects: A SIDE EFFECT, that may go away during treatment,
is constipation. If it continues or is bothersome, check with your doctor.
If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor, nurse,
or pharmacist.
