Generic Name: E: MUPIROCIN (myoo-PEER-oh-sin)
Common Uses: This medicine is an antibacterial used to treat skin
infections.
How to use this Medicine: Follow the directions for using this medicine
provided by your doctor. Wash and completely dry the affected area. Gently
rub the medicine in until it is evenly distributed. The affected area may
be covered with gauze or a bandage. WASH YOUR HANDS with soap and water
after applying this medicine. STORE THIS MEDICINE at room temperature,
away from heat and light. IF YOU MISS A DOSE OF THIS MEDICINE, use it as
soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed
dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule.
Cautions: IF YOUR SYMPTOMS DO NOT IMPROVE within 3 to 5 days or if they
become worse, check with your doctor. Avoid getting this medicine in your
eyes or inside your mouth. FOR WOMEN: IT IS UNKNOWN IF THIS MEDICINE IS
EXCRETED in breast milk. IF YOU ARE OR WILL BE BREAST-FEEDING while you
are using this medicine, check with your doctor or pharmacist to discuss
the risks to your baby.
Possible Side Effects: SIDE EFFECTS, that may go away during treatment,
include burning, stinging, or pain. If they continue or are bothersome,
check with your doctor. CHECK WITH YOUR DOCTOR AS SOON AS POSSIBLE if you
experience rash, severe irritation, or itching. If you notice other
effects not listed above, contact your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist.
